Tattoo’s,Rockstars and Books!

These 3 lil subject titles run my life and are my obsession! Hence the moniker, Inkdgirl, yes I am tatt’d! Do I love it? Yup , does my mother approve? , nope , do I care?, nope! Again the whole listening to rules and people do not apply to inkdgirl. Currently I am wearing 9 lovely pieces of ink with future designs in the works. Most recently I had this done,

Did it hurt, not really, but my tolerance of pain is quite high..
Now on to Rockstars.. my most fav obsession… Nickelback are my pick for the greatest band ever! Have a look at this pic

I hate that I was Fat in this pic! I was hanging onto Chad like there is no tomorrow! I have a guitar, I’m a lefty of course so a special order guitar had to be purchased, cuz nothing comes easy for me! Can I play, nope not really but let me tell you, when I plug that amp in.. I AM A ROCKSTAR!

Books- I am completely engrossed in books. I read so many books a year my library is full! What do I read , well right now its this

Um Hello, of course I read books about rockstars! They have the best stories and I live vicariously through their stories!

Food Porn!

You must know early on that I love food porn and will show you all my latest and greatest concoctions as they become available. My children scurry from the kitchen when they hear me chant” Guess what I’m making tonight!”

Let’s just say this lil journey has included some seriously disgusting kitchen creations, but also new ones that are favoured my all members of inkdgirl’s household! Can you say FLATOUT Pizza’s, yummo!

I would be uploading some of these glorious photos, but currently IPHONE is digesting IOS5, and seems to be spewing it all over! Updates and me, not friends!

The one thing I do enjoy looking at is others food creations and daily logs, Yeah I creep myfitnesspal diaries!

So enough said, I had you excited with the Caption Food Porn, only to bring you down, but it shall appear… I promise and I won’t disappoint!

Transfer Addiction– THE GYM!

I have to admit that I’m pretty cool with this addiction. I know that some people have issues with this and what they are transferring to, be it shopping or whatever, thankfully mine is the trusty old YMCA. I love this place! Where else in the world can you get fit and totally people watch at the same time. I have to admit that  am a total people watcher, sit me on a busy street and I can entertain myself for hours! Enter Cowboy, my gym’s 80 yr old man who works out in his cowboy hat! KUDOS to you Cowboy, hey at least he’s in the gym working out. Then there are the pretty girls with matchy matchy outfits and never a sweat bead crosses their foreheads!

Any hoo – not hear to chat about the characters of the Y, but to say how much I love to work out!

It all started with a simple love affair with the elliptical machine. I started out doing 20-30 min at moderate resistance for about 3-5 kms. Then , I got bored!

So enters the beloved TREADMILL! I heart this machine to death. I began the C5K on this and was progressing at an alarming speed( alarming reads INJURY!). I finished the first 3 weeks without resting in between runs. I know- stupid idea! but if you know me- I don’t like to listen to rules or people! So the knee starts to hurt during ,oh lets say, week 2.. but do I slow down.. noooo! I keep running and actually ramp my speed up! Then week 4 comes and I anticipate conquering this dreaded 5 min run, when I become an EPIC FAIL!!! I hit that 5 min run with all my might and good ole left knee says” I THINK NOT”!!!!
I finished the run as a very slow walk.. cuz I’m no quitter! Then I hobble to the change room to shower and realze, said left knee refuses to bend to put pants on… OH NO! No worries folks, I got em on.. but so ends the love affair with Treadmill…

BUT!!! I now heart WEIGHT ROOM!!!
Yup , sure do.. And its all thanks to Jamie Eason and all her awesomeness! ( I like to make up words!)
So I get myself a bodybuilding.com account and off I go! I am trying to listen and not overwork my muscles, but pain means results doesn’t it?I’ve successfully done 3 days of gym time/weights and only did 20 min cardio on my former flame, elliptical! I now fully understand the anatomy of the female upper body, why, because this anatomy is currently screaming at me for ripping it to shreds!

So for those of you looking to find a transfer addiction, other than food- I highly recommend THE GYM, minus the injury part!

How could you possibly be full? That’s not healthy? Blah Blah Blah… I for one will never ever in this lifetime give up on my addiction to the following
Bick’s Baby Dills- Garlic (Costco sized jars for inkdgirl!)
Cracker Barrel Old Cheddar- yes it has to be old, the stinky’er the better!
and Tea… just plain ole Tea, well steeped, my love! I heart you Tea!

These are by no means high protein nutritional meals, but there are times when this is my comfort food.

Please read and educate yourselves on how unhealthy it is to live like this… We need to feed our bodies, minds and souls. Like I learned from my surgeon— it it wasn’t picked from a tree, pulled from the ground or killed by a butcher.. don’t EAT it!!!!

Blog Day 1 THE INTRODUCTION!!!

Good morning and welcome to Shrinking Inkdgirl…
This will be a long and wonderful journey for all those who so chose to give a damn about what I may have to say! LOL…Im sarcastic, dont sit on the fence,you will get raw emotions,my in my head voice comes out daily!, and Im not afraid to speak my mind.

First off we need to explore why I chose to blog and make my lil old life public info. I am a WLS vetern.. Yup I am, dont judge me or say I took the easy road out cuz I didnt and you will see why momentarily.
Way back in 1999 I had the old school Vertical Banded Gastroplasty done in Edmonton Ab.. I had massive complications post op and came pretty close to seeing my maker if it wasnt for my insistence on getting help..aka getting cut open in the walk in clinic to relieve the bulging abcess brewing in my belly… Gross, yes! After 3 months of post op nursing , irrigation the wound decided it will now close. Education for WLS peeps pretty much did not exist then. I had no idea about protein, fluid intake or whatever related to this surgery. I ate Lipton soup for a year I think! Plug for you Lipton, it was a love affair!
So , 18 months later , I did lose weight and got to 150 lbs.. BUT… I was not healthy.. I did not eat properly, (SOUP) and I did not take vitamins.

So lets fast forward 10 years… I am now vomitting every meal and dehydrated daily.. what is wrong with me.. I see surgeon in Toronto , cuz I live in Ontario now, and he says he’ll fix me right up.. Umm ok go for it cuz I hate puking! Turns out my stoma has closed off and I have no where for my highly chewed for to go? So said surgeon cuts me all up , never offer up a revision?.. and I am all fixed up.

Fast forward a year …I gained 100lbs.. WTF!! I guess said body which has been malnourished and starved for 10 years likes food and grabs every calorie,fat gram and holds onto it for dear life! BUT, lil Miss Inkdgirl does not like this new lifestyle and begs for her old self back. So I start researching Revision surgery, I go thru the process in On for WLS and very quickly get denied due to all my prior surgeries.. The program here is too new for my old body!
SO, enter the very talented and wonderful doc DR William Graber in Utica NY.. my new BFF! I see him In June 2010 and he agrees to fix me up good! And guess what, HE DID! I got my life back with RNY surgery and like I was used to for 10yrs, I had protion control with me daily.
I had my surgery Aug 2010 and by Aug 2011 I was down 110lbs.. Yes in the beginning it was easy, the weight flew of, but now I am conscious of every single thing that enters my mouth!

No it is not the easy way out, I work my tool ! I am a complete gym rat and love cardio and weights! I will shout out to the great Jamie Eason at bodybuilding.com for motivating me everyday to work my muscles!

I will have to dig deep for those old photos from 1999, but in the mean time I will show you a before and after 2010-2011…
